Devon Riley
The wealth of knowledge and information in today’s ever evolving society is endless. The ability to communicate this data in an efficient and understandable way has become known as information design. One of its most important categories, wayfinding, is used every day to help navigate three-dimensional spaces. Not only have I seen how way finding is an essential element of everyday life, but also that this form of information can be beautifully designed. My degree project solves some of the many problems with the Umass Dartmouth navigational system, from inconsistent design to poor directional communication. Wayfinding is so ingrained in our lives that many of us fail to notice the amount of precision and specificity required to create a successful system. This project aims to communicate this degree of exactness through an intelligent and sophisticated design.
