Through my studies of graphic design and letterform at UMass Dartmouth I have come to understand the power and influence design has on the world around us. As a designer I can use this knowledge to solve problems, and present information to the world through different mediums. Of all aspect of design typography is my passion. I am inspired by the versatility of typography, it goes beyond just words on a page and can truly convey your message using just letterform. The influence design has on our culture is what attracted me to this form of creative expression. I feel an obligation to use these skills to make a positive impact on the world around us. Design is a medium used in our everyday lives and in integrated into our culture. This is reflected through my work, especially in my degree project where I created a program to help people eat diets that are healthier for them and the environment. Our culture has a diet focused on food that is bad for our health and the environment, through my project I wanted to design a program that could help people make a change in their own lives to step away from the norm and make a difference.
